Senior Elizabeth Beall is enjoying her first year on the Courier staff. Her favorite part is getting the opportunity to creatively capture what matters to the school and community. Other classes she likes involve life sciences and literature.  She loves spending her free time in fellowship with her church, family, friends, and new faces.

Sophomore Spencer Beran achieved 6th place in triple jump with 38 ft 8.5 in.

Junior Connor Coggins got fourth place in both the 1600 and 3200, running personal records of 5:34.26 (1 mile) and 12:20.52 (2 mile).

The girls 4x100 meter relay and boys 4x400 meter relay both placed fifth in the Dallastown Invitational.

“It’s super motivating knowing that everyone kinda just gets along and cares about each other,” said senior Kate Burgess. [All photos were taken at the 4/23 track meet against West York (H)].

Susky Unites to “END IT”

Although slavery is illegal in every country, it is present in 87% of them, including the U.S. More information concerning modern slavery can be found on enditmovement.com.

"Ever since I had heard of the END IT movement at a conference, it has really touched my heart. As a Christian and human being, it hurts me so much to see people in bondage," said Boone.

SHS faculty such as English teacher Erica Littleton participated in the movement.

"It is remarkable when our SHS family comes together to better the lives of others," said Assistant Principal Melissa Bell.

"I believe it is very important to shine a light on an awareness that our country is trying so hard to forget and ignore. By us not talking about it we make ourselves believe that slavery no longer exists but it does and in many ways," said senior Synye Carter.

The END IT movement is a coalition of global nonprofit organizations fighting to end existing slavery and prevent future victimization.

Freedom fighters in this movement have the goal of bringing an awareness that leads to action around the globe. Freshman Erica Taylor holds up the symbol to end slavery.

Senior Brittany Boone initiated Susky’s involvement in the END IT movement.

February 22 is ‘Shine a Light on Slavery’ Day.

1 in 5 victims of slavery are under the age of 18, according to enditmovement.com

On this day, participants were encouraged to post a picture on social media of a red “X” on one hand with #ENDITMOVEMENT. Senior Stephen Quackenbush draws a red "X" on his hand.
