A Yam-tastic Time at Yamfest

By Liz Beall, Reporter

Students in 12 AP English Lit present their yam creations on Thursday, December 21 during the annual Yamfest lead by English teacher Katharine Wilt.

This yam celebration simulates the Feast of the New Yam from Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe that classes are reading.

In this novel, the yam crop is essential to the Ibo society to represent masculinity, wealth, and provision.

Student creativity is displayed through artwork, food dishes, and entertainment, all in homage to the yam.
