On Mar. 25, the students in the Advanced Foods class participated in the annual Burger Battle. Students worked in teams to create the best burger as judged by a panel of teachers and counselors.

Before the battle starts, the students have to prepare so they can create their best burger. Culinary Arts teacher Karen Deluca explains how the students prepare for the battle. “They learned about the Maillard Reaction, how to properly season a burger with salt, how to handle ground meat for a tender final product, how to control temperature, and about reaching proper internal cooking temperatures for ground proteins,” Deluca said.
