The Movember Foundation is raising money during the entire month of November for men’s health. The foundation is raising money and awareness for men’s health by having members sign up at Movember.com, and sport mustaches for the duration of the month. Since 2003, over four million members have signed up to participate, raising over $559 million in that span.

Susquehannock has now joined the movement, and teacher and advisor Kellin McCullough is in charge of raising money and coordinating the event. For the event at the high school, the rules have been changed. Movember is no longer limited to just mustaches; full beards are encouraged instead.

“[Movember] is a competition for gentlemen to not shave for 21 days to raise money for men’s health awareness,” said McCullough. “The competition is to see whoever can raise the most money, with student council matching the amount of whatever is raised. We are asking each participant to raise at least $20.”

Senior Josh Senn is looking to raise upwards of $100 for the cause.

“I heard about Movember through flyers, and some people I follow on Twitter posted some things about it,” said Senn. “I plan on emailing people and asking them to sponsor me, my grandparents, relatives, aunts, uncles, as well as ask people in school.”

Senior Shane Silk is also participating and looking to raise money.

“I plan on raising a lot of money,” said Silk. “I want to be the one to come out on top, and with the best beard.”

November 21 is the final day of the contest.
