The Prince of Pink candidates have been decided for the girls volleyball Dig Pink game.

The girls volleyball team is holding a Dig Pink event to raise money to kick cancer for October, breast cancer awareness month.

The volleyball team chooses two students from each grade level, and the exclusive few get to work at raising money. The students raise money by asking for donations from peers, students, and teachers alike throughout the school day.

The Prince of Pink candidates are as follows:

Junior Laura Savin expects a lot from these young men.

“We are looking to raise at least $3000, if not more.” said Savin. “We raised $2,200 last year, and I think we can do better this year. All of the profits will go to the Side Out Foundation.”

Senior Clayton Leasure is excited about raising money for a good cause.

“[In order to raise money] we are all just walking around with the little can that the volleyball girls give us, and I shake it a lot.” said Leasure. “I think it’s a great idea, and it’s a different way to bring attention to breast cancer.”

Junior Josh Stoneberg is eager to be crowned the “Prince of Pink.”

“I’m very excited,” said Stoneberg. “I have over $50 already, and it’s still just the first day. I’m trying my best to win this. I think this is a great thing to do.”

But the volleyball team isn’t just counting on Prince of Pink to raise money, the team is selling t-shirts the week of September 29 to benefit breast cancer. Earlier in September, the team held a car wash at Shrewsbury Elementary to further benefit the cause.

Before the team’s “Dig Pink” game on October 7th, the winner of Prince of Pink will be disclosed.
