Students Journey Toward Inner Peace on Mental Health Day

Sophomore Lydia Ridgley and senior Jayden Carter partner up in karaoke, singing "Alexander Hamilton,” from the musical. This was one of their ways to relax and clear their heads on the annual Mental Health Day on April 17. Mental Health Day is an event that is run by Student Council and Aveidum. “It was a great way to destress and have fun. Everyone was singing along and cheering for each other which was nice, I felt like there was no judgment and everyone was just there to have fun,” Ridgley said. Photograph by Peyton Elmore

Students at the high school participated in the Mental Health Day on April 17. In the morning students listened to a motivational speaker and, in the afternoon, students were able to decompress with choices from a variety of different activities. The students had different options to pick from in order to take a break from schoolwork and reduce stress levels a few weeks before state-mandated testing.
