STEM ( science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) day is coming to Susquehannock freshmen on Jan. 16.
STEM is an event that has been held since 2019. At the event, students will separate into groups and rotate around the gymnasium to different tables with 8 different volunteers instructing students in experiments and educational activities related to the field, such as learning about how wiring is done as an electrician, solving puzzles and number games, or making “elephant toothpaste.” This day gives students a chance to learn about STEM while having fun.
There are also opportunities for students to ask questions about jobs and other career-related questions during the event. Many of the volunteers are involved in the industry that they are presenting an activity for, which gives interested students the chance to talk with an experienced professional.
If any freshmen have questions about the event ahead of time, they can contact career and college coordinator Matthew Amberman.
