The field hockey team has seen unrivaled success leading up to the District III playoffs, including nine shut-outs, multiple fourth-quarter wins and an undefeated 20-0 track record.
To get to the district three tournament, the field hockey team faced fierce competition from Red Lion, Littlestown and Dallastown in the league playoffs. In all of these competitions, the Warriors shut out their opponents 1-0.
Senior Cara Zapach made the point against Red Lion, and junior Ella Wetzel brought the point against Littlestown. Senior Brooke Schabdach defended with vigor by making six saves during the match against Dallastown.
For the past four seasons, the Warrior field hockey team has lost in their first round of district three tournaments; however, this year, the losing streak was broken thanks to a last-minute shot from junior Carli Kernan. With sixteen seconds of the game left, Kernan shot and made the goal that resulted in overtime, in which the Warriors were able to overtake Cocalico and win 2-1.
As a result of their efforts, the field hockey team will be transitioning to the Division I competitive class starting in the 2026-2027 season. This will provide them the opportunity to experience more difficult opponents and grow in their capabilities.
The field hockey team’s winning streak was broken on Saturday with a shutout loss against Hershey 0-2.
