A Must-Do Fall Activity: Apple Picking

By Raili Sormus, Reporter

If you haven’t picked crisp, juicy fall apples yet in your lifetime, this year is the year.

Sophomores Ari Prediger and Jessica Dauberman “do not remember the time without apple picking.”

The girls pick apples at Brown’s Orchards and Farm Market not far from Susquehannock.

Brown’s started out as a roadside stand in 1948.

Brown’s has been owned and operated by three generations of the Brown’s family.

When it comes to cost, then Brown’s Orchards and Farm Market sell apples $12 dollars per one peck bag.

This fall activity is in the local community’s hearts.

“Certainly, the fruits are much better flavored,” Hunter Fultz said, “ The apples taste much better after apple picking.”

This fun family activity is not just for apples.

“I have enjoyed this activity also with pumpkins and strawberries,” said Dauberman.

Not only is apple picking important, it is important to spend time with your family.

Also after apple picking, one can make apple dishes.

Dauberman said, “After apple picking, we make applesauce, and it is great to see the whole process.”
