A father’s Italian restaurant is a kitchen nightmare filled with chaos and panic. Will they be able to keep their doors open?
“On Top Of Spaghetti,” co-written by junior Charlie Schaffer and sophomore Ella Miliauskas, is the one-act play the theatre department will be performing on Jan. 29. The show will be held in the auditorium beginning at 7 p.m. There is no cost for admission. It is an entirely student-run production directed by seniors William Dumm, sophomore Ava Miliauskas and senior Kylie Herzog.
The play follows a wacky Italian father and the chaos that ensues between him, his family and the family-run restaurant when he hears that Mr. Rico Rossi, an Italian food network and T.V. Critic is visiting his restaurant to judge his food.
Junior Ryan Rashad, freshman Madison Feyrer, 8th Grader Cacey Schupp and 8th Grader London Mendenhall getting instructions about blocking from director William Dumm. Dumm is excited to get to display their performance based on the script created by junior Charlie Schaffer. “He comes up with super funny ideas and makes them come into reality by acting, “ Dumm said. “He makes the actors really express their emotions through the words used in the scripts. We had some challenges because the directors mainly had no experience with blocking, and it took a while for us to get used to giving out directions and getting ourselves coordinated to better give the actors instructions. It’s also on us to get them engaged with the rehearsal while also having fun.”
