Officer Hanson Presented with the Model SRO Award
School Resource Officer Bill Hanson received the Model SRO Award from the Pennsylvania Association of School Resource Officers over the summer.
Hanson has been the School Resource Officer for the school district since 2018.
In an interview with junior Maggie Grim on the Courier Daily News, Hanson stated that he was shocked that he received the award.
“It was totally unexpected,” said Hanson. “There are several SROs throughout Pennsylvania, and it was a real shock for me to get the award.”
Receiving this honor has made Hanson want to bring himself up to a higher standard and responsibility.
“I want to reach out to other SROs and other schools and pass on some of the ideas that have worked for me here,” said Hanson. “Hopefully that can better the school district they may work in.”
This award not only means a lot to Officer Hanson himself, but also the entire school district as a way to appreciate his hard work and dedication.
