Senior Brooke McGee recently signed her national letter of intent to play Division I soccer at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Brooke has been playing soccer since she was on the Youth Club under 11 team.  From that point on she fell in love with the game.

McGee was one of the few to play varsity soccer as a freshman.  She then had a terrible injury her junior year, suffering from a torn ACL, but McGee was focused on a full recovery in preparation for the next season.  After helping her team win a share in the York Division II title, her big game came her senior year of the first round of the 2014 District III tournament.

The Warriors were facing the tough Eastern York Knights and faced overtime with a score of zero to zero.  Within the first 15 minutes of sudden death overtime McGee punished the ball, kicking it into the back of the net to win the game.  After the game she busted into tears, thankful she had another game left in her senior year.

“I’m a senior,” McGee said.  “You just have to shoot. You just have to go for it.  When it went in, it was like overwhelming tears of joy.”

The team would later lose to Greencastle in the next round of the District Tournament with a score of 2-0.  McGee finished her senior season with 24 goals, a share of a division title, a York County All-Star awardee and a spot in the York County Girls Soccer All-Star game. There, in her last high school soccer game, she put up two goals and added an assist.

In late winter she signed her National Letter of Intent to play for New Jersey Institute of Technology. The public institution is located just outside of Newark, New Jersey and has a fresh new girls soccer team that has its inaugural season in 2015.

“They had my major,” said McGee. “I liked the smaller school, and they are like up and coming. They don’t really have a conference, so I’ll more likely play.”

Throughout McGee’s career she has had many people to thank.

“Obviously [I’d like to thank] my parents,” said McGee.  “Friends, coaches, Trainer Mike, anyone that has ever encouraged me to keep working hard.”
