A Glimpse at Spring Sports: First Competitions

  Spring sports got lucky during the first two weeks of practice this year, taking in the sunshine to get ready to compete in their first games for the 2016 season.

Track and Field

  Boys and girls varsity track and field teams will begin their season at Northeastern on Tuesday, March 29 at 3:15 p.m.

  This will be senior Rachel Banchiere’s fourth year of running, and she is expecting a lot of improvement this season.

  “As a team, we want to improve and beat last year’s record… Personally, I want to continue to improve and get ready for college cross country,” Banchiere said.

Boys Lacrosse

  The boys lacrosse team will travel to York Catholic to start off their season on Tuesday, March 29 at 4:15 p.m.

  Senior captain Brady Gallegos is returning for his final varsity season as a Warrior and is ready for yet another successful year.

  “After coming up short last season in the county championship, we all started the season with a common goal of getting back to that game,” Gallegos said.

Girls Lacrosse

  The girls lacrosse team opens their season at home on Tuesday, March 29 against York Catholic at 6:00 p.m.

  Coming off of a victory-filled season, junior Rachel Marshner is ready to make the most out of the 2016 season.

  “I would definitely say that we want to beat York Catholic and Kennard-Dale and try to make it further than we did last year,” Marshner said.

Baseball

   The boys baseball team will make the trip to Southwestern to commence their season on Tuesday, March 29 at 4:15 p.m.

  Junior catcher Stephen Fuller is back for his second season on the varsity team and is looking forward to what this season will bring.

  “Our team goals this year are to win and to grow a stronger bond with each other…districts is a big goal for us,” Fuller said.

Softball

  Softball will be hosting the Rams from Kennard-Dale on Monday, March 28 at 4:15 p.m. to kick-off their season.

  Junior right-fielder Mackenzie Gibson is exhilarated about this season.

  “I want our team to go far and win the division, counties, and go to districts and states…with a new coach I want our team to be more united because it’s a fresh start this year,” Gibson said.

Boys Tennis

  The boys tennis team will drive to Dallastown on Tuesday, March 22 to tip off their season at 3:30 p.m.

  Senior Aaron Gervasio is thrilled to play his last season of tennis.

  “Going to districts and getting sweatshirts has always been a goal of mine,” Gervasio said.

Boys Volleyball

  Boys volleyball will travel to Dallastown to set up their season on Thursday, March 31 at 7:15 p.m.

  Senior captain Stephen Rouse is a returning starter for the Warriors and is ready for revenge.

  “A big goal for us is to get back to where we were last season in districts and to get some revenge on Cumberland Valley,” Rouse said.
