Student council members organized a full week of celebrations to honor teachers during teacher appreciation week.
To celebrate, the student council, led by junior Aubrey Coleman in cooperation with parent volunteer Tracee Rankin, held daily celebrations where the teachers recieved something special each day throughout the week. On Monday, teachers got bagels and coffee delivered to their door to start the week strong and energized. On Tuesday, teachers received a special Italian lunch provided by Sons of Sicily in Shrewsbury, PA. On Wednesday, teachers were able to head to a snack bar in the teachers’ lounge, with some of the food options consisting of nachos and cheese, a Boston-creme pudding cake, cookies and different types of dips. On Thursday morning, Teachers were given a special goodie bag based on personal requests on Thursday. Finally, to wrap up the week, teachers went to the ice cream bar at lunch.
The week prior to teacher appreciation week, students were also able to fill out thank you cards to their favorite teachers during their lunches. Throughout teacher appreciation week, Rankin handed out task cards to students to complete. These tasks cards consisted of ways to make teachers feel appreciated. One of the task cards read, “Start a hallway chant or cheer when you pass a favorite teacher in between classes.” Another read: “Create a ‘Thank a teacher’ message in your classroom, and pass it around to challenge a classmate to do the same.”
Overall, teacher appreciation week was a great opportunity to celebrate and appreciate our teachers here at Susquehannock.
