Career practicum participants attended a banquet on May 7 from 5-6:30 p.m. in the commons.
This annual banquet is held to give recognition and appreciation to the mentors who helped students during their placements all year long.
The students were required to wear business attire to emphasize their professionalism. The professionalism is seen as respectful and an expression of gratitude to the mentors.
The banquet’s activities included students bringing thank-you cards for their mentors, and they are also welcome to give their mentors a small gift for their gratitude. They could even extend their gratitude by making a “shoutout” to them. The students spoke about their experience with their mentor throughout the year and what they were grateful for learning.
A slideshow of the seniors were also presented during the banquet, showcasing the students’ accomplishments, future plans and recognition for their work for their mentors to see.

Seniors were very excited to host this banquet for their mentors. Senior Mackenzie Turk honored her placement with math teacher Kelly Quinn.
“I’m excited to spend time with other TA’s and share stories from our experiences,” Turk said.
Senior Jonny Wade wished to reflect with others on his experiences.
“I am excited to understand the timeline and workload of my peers’ internships, along with better understanding of the challenges of that career to help me plan what I want for my future,” Wade said.
