The film club is creating their new take on the movie “A Christmas Carol” through a comedic spin with action and a modern twist.
Despite common misconceptions that film club is all about just watching movies, the film club is hard at work producing.

Senior Gabriel Wede, president of the film club, is very excited to create a new version of a holiday tale.
“It’s like ‘ Christmas Carol’ but better,” Wede said. “We just kind of made it funnier and with a modern twist! And there’s fight scenes!”.
Wede and the co-president senior Grady Gutridge have to stay on top of films being completed while still having fun.
Video Production teacher and film club adviser Tim Hare expressed his joy in seeing that the club has had a productive start to this year in comparison to past years.
“As long as they are creating things, it’s good,” Hare said. “Last time [years ago], it was just a lot of talking and planning and overall not a lot getting done,”
Hare sees the value of giving students the opportunity to express their creativity freely and feels students are lucky to have the opportunity to participate.
“When I went here, there was no film club,” Hare said. “I’m glad that there is one now because it’s an opportunity for students that have a passion for film to express themselves freely without restrictions.”

Film club isn’t just about making short films, but it also has helped many who participate in the club make lots of new friends and connections.
“The film club has helped me immensely with making new friends,” Gutridge said. “Many people that join are passionate and always have something in common with me and the other members.”
The group aims to finish their rendition of “ A Christmas Carol” by winter break.
