For two weeks in mid-January, students of all grades had the opportunity to play in the 2025 SHS Winter Olympics. Not only did the Winter Olympics allow for active fun, but they also built teamwork and created excitement.

The SHS Winter Olympics is an annual event hosted by Student Council that sees slight changes each year. “The Winter Olympics has changed from year to year in regard to the activities that take place,” Altemose said. “Last year we had a Snowball Action round, and the year prior Snow King took place. It is really all dependent on what new things the Student Council is wanting to add. Now, we put it out on the forms for students to have the opportunity to play Snowball Action, but we received no forms back with any teams for that event so it was strictly floor hockey this year. We have discussed bringing back Snow King, but with the timing and Winter Carnival around the corner, it is something that we will discuss for next year's Olympics. “
