The Book club has been turning pages through the past few months.
Senior Ava Silliman, the president of the club, planned the club’s first activity.
“Everyone picked a book they [wanted] someone else to read, and… we’re going to see what books other people chose and pick one of those books to read for the month,” Silliman said.
Meeting every Monday, the club has a goal that they hope will attract students to join.
“I’m hoping that this book club is a place where people can come together and share a common love for reading without too much pressure to hit a reading goal or deadline,” Silliman said.
The club also hopes to provide an open space which can hold opportunities for members to share their book tastes and expand others’ genre interests.
“Starting out without assigned books has been fun because it’s really allowed everyone to read something they’re actually interested in,” Silliman said.
Overall, Silliman hopes that the book club will inspire students and others to drop the technology and pick up a book.
“I hope that people will continue to build this club up,” Silliman said. “And come up with new ways to encourage each other’s love of reading in future years.”
The book club will next meet on Monday, Nov. 25 during period 11.
