The water spills, random milk cartons, ripped candy wrappers and spent paper towels lay sprawled around the trash can.
These messes don’t just go away magically; custodial staff workers like Sue McFatridge work hard to keep our school clean without disrupting our daily routines here at Susquehannock.
McFatridge has worked here for 11 months. She always has a smile on her face to show how much she appreciates all the students and staff.
“I love everything about my job, especially when I get a ‘please’ and a ‘thank you,’” McFatridge said. “It means a lot, and it really makes me appreciate everyone in the building.”
McFatridge takes pride in her work, and vice-principal Jennifer Morris sees it too.
“Ms. Sue takes so much pride in her work and is really dedicated to wanting to give [the students] the best school experience possible,” Morris said.
McFatridge is one of the many key figures in our school who makes the environment a more positive and clean space.
“I clean the school like it is my home, which in a way it is, it is my second home,” McFatridge said. “I clean the cafeteria like it is a restaurant. You don’t want to walk into a restaurant and see food and trash laying all around. I take my job seriously.”
McFatridge is truly one of many beloved members of the Susquehannock staff; she takes pride in her work and does the best she can everyday. While this feat alone can often go unsung, it has not gone unnoticed by students and staff.
