Cacti Paw Earns Third at States

Junior Christian Brakke earned a third place finish in the PA Media & Design State Competition held at Dickinson College on May 21.

He submitted an entry in the 3D Design category.  According to engineering teacher JC Lewis via an email to faculty, Brakke’s design, “Cacti Paw,” serves as a way to safely cut chicken or fish while keeping your hands away from the slippery texture.

Lewis is very excited about Brakke’s accomplishment.

“Christian put a lot of time and effort into his design over the course of the school year,” Lewis said. ” He went all the way from a basic problem in the kitchen to multiple 3D prototype iterations.  After winning the regional competition, he should be so proud  of his top three finish in the state.  That is certainly not an easy thing to do!”

Junior Christian Brakke shows off his prize for winning 3rd place in the PA Media & Design state competition on May 21.

Sophomore Ryan Reeves also competed in the state competition in the Animation category. He did not place.

Brakke and Reeves earned a trip to the state competition after winning first place in their respective categories at the PA Media & Design Regional Competition, which featured students from schools from York and Adams counties.
