Rationalizing Trump’s Wrongs

Rationalizing+Trumps+Wrongs

It has been one entire year of Trump’s reign in the White House, and whether or not you love him or hate him, he is here, and there is no denying that fact.

Trump somehow miraculously won the 2016 presidential elections by getting the people to rally over a threat- whether it be Russia, immigrants, or fake news,- and somehow everyone believed him.

It is 2018, and CNN’s Jake Tapper interviewed President Trump’s senior policy adviser Stephen Miller in an tense interview.

Miller constantly praised Trump throughout the interview and denied any misdoing of his boss, while bashing CNN and Tapper for airing “24 hours of anti-Trump, hysterical coverage.”

Trump supporters have consistently defended Trump though any controversy that has hit him.

The Washington Post published an article on January 12, 2018, titled, “Ignore, deny, defend: Trump’s media boosters run the usual playbook after ‘sh*****e’ remark” written by Callum Borchers.

Borchers explains how Trump’s supporters only ever seem to use the strategies for defending him, “Maybe he didn’t really say what he reportedly said. Even if he did, it is no big deal and is hardly worth anyone’s attention. And if it is worth attention, that is only because he boldly declared something politically-correct wimps are too afraid to say out loud,” said Borchers.

Trump is not a typical politician and does not always abide by the same rules or is as politically correct as a more experienced politician; however, denying every wrong thing Trump has done and being able to rationalize it with the phrase “fake news” is not healthy for any functioning democracy.

While on the other side of the spectrum, Anti-Trump supporters criticize every slip-up and wrongdoing Trump has committed and passing judgment without even getting his side of the story.

In an article published by CBS News by Michael Graham titled “Commentary: Are Trump’s Critics crazier than he is?”

In the article, White House physician Ronny Jackson reported on Trump’s physical and mental stability even saying he achieved a perfect score on the mental health exam only to have reporters repeatedly ask if Trump was mentally fit for office.

This is just one example of Trump critics being far too objective, attempting to find a flaw when none can be found.

Trump is a very controversial figure located in the heart of American politics and as easy as it is to criticize or chop up his mistakes to “fake news,”  the American people should remember to stay unbiased, ask the right questions, and as crazy as it sounds, give him credit where it is due.
