With so many apps out there, it’s time to pick this week’s favorite.

The chosen app of the week is Snapchat.  Snapchat has risen on the social media charts ever since it was released in September of 2011. This app allows your followers to see what you are doing throughout the day with a series of pictures and 10-second videos. Millions of people have started to use Snapchat because of its innovative way of socializing.

You post a picture or video, and you upload it to your story. Your story is basically the series of pictures and videos of what you did during that day. Once you upload your pictures and videos, they only stay public for 24 hours and then they are permanently deleted. You can choose who you want to see your uploads and who you don’t want to see them.

Snapchat’s newest feature involves their amazing and humorous filters. There are a total of 16 filters that can be used when the camera is facing you. Some of the filters include face swapping and the dog filter that applies the ears and nose of a dog. Snapchat usually needs to be updated almost once a week because they are always working on new ways to make this app better.

This app’s success is based on how it actually gives you some insight on what your friends are doing throughout the day without having to ask them.

Snapchat took some time to become popular, but, now that it is,  this app should be around for a long time.
