French Club spent Wednesday evening tasting French cuisine at Rachel’s Crêperie, a very exciting trip that French Club takes every year.

Sophomore Sydney Smith is a French III student that has enjoyed this trip each year.

“When we went to Rachel’s Crêperie, it was a cute little French cafe. I got a ham and brie crêpe, which was very good.  I went on this trip last year as well, and it is so enjoyable because everyone in French Club loves learning more about the culture and being exposed to something new, like crêpes,” said Smith.

Junior Mackenzie Marzullo, president of French Club, supports the idea of having restaurant trips.

“I think it is very beneficial to the club because it allows students to experience French culture in an enjoyable way that isn’t just learning. People really love learning the language and embracing the culture through food will increase their love for French even more. There was a wide selection of crêpes offered, as well as smoothies and hot chocolate, which was new for us this year,” said Marzullo.

Junior and vice president of French Club Gabby Maiorano visited France this past summer and was able to  compare Rachel’s Crêperie to cafes and food in France.

“I love French culture and think it is very cool to be able to compare authentic French food to French food around me. Rachel’s Crêperie was very similar to cafes that can be seen in France. It’s small and cute. The crêpes also tasted authentic. I love crêpes and French culture and find the restaurant trips so fun,” said Maiorano.

Smith thinks this trip will continue into the next years of French Club.

“The restaurant trips will continue to grow throughout the years because it is not only a delicious trip, but it helps students learn more about the ways of the French. Madame is the type of person that loves her job and loves sharing French culture with students. These restaurant trips are definitely in favor for the members of French Club,” said Smith.
