Bid farewell to Halloween, and welcome Christmas spirit.

But wait, it seems like something’s missing.

What happened to Thanksgiving?

While Christmas is a fun and exciting holiday, it seems as though most people are skipping over Thanksgiving. Christmas is an exciting holiday full of family time, delicious foods, gifts, and decorations.

Thanksgiving is one of, if not the best, holidays to celebrate, and it definitely should not be dropped from the calendar. Besides, it’s basically a holiday dedicated to food. There are golden turkeys, rich green beans, warm stuffing, buttery mashed potatoes, vibrant cranberries, and classic apple and pumpkin pies.

Besides the food, it is the best time to have family gatherings because everyone sits around the table eating, sharing stories, and just talking and having a good time.

A great way to start Thanksgiving Day is to watch the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on television. During the parade, people watch gigantic balloon heads float across New York and popular singers sing short holiday tunes on floats.

Along with watching the parade, watching football is a classic American tradition on Thanksgiving. While everyone is cozy inside with family, they can watch football players play the game in freezing weather.

If you don’t like football, Animal Planet showcases an annual  dog show where cute dogs and kittens can be found strutting their stuff in a faux football game.

And who doesn’t love shopping? Black Friday starts Thanksgiving night, around 6:00 p.m. for some stores. Buying items with a discounted price always feels great, especially to complete shopping for another holiday season.

Thanksgiving is the most underrated holiday. It is a time to give thanks, kick back, enjoy food and spend time with family. We have the Pilgrims and Native Americans to thank for this holiday of peace and gathering.

After Thanksgiving, there are 27 more days until Christmas. People can express their Christmas spirit then, when it’s actually time.
