New Security Cameras Eye Students
Twenty-six new sets of eyes are now watching students around the clock, from around just about every corner.
July’s completed security renovation included an entire new fleet of cameras, which have been strategically positioned in all of the major hallways, lobbies, the gymnasium, offices, and sports fields.
Susquehannock’s Principal Kevin Molin compared Susky security to schools in the surrounding area.
“We’re one of the last schools in the area to install cameras. They’ve existed outside for years,” said Molin, “Just not in the building.”
Interesting results were found after conducting a random poll of 30 students about the viability of a video surveillance system. 13 of whom were in favor of the new system, 8 were against, and 9 expressed neutrality on the topic. One student, Zachary Kettinger, pointed out the positives.
“It’s the way of the future, man,” Kettinger said. The cameras are here to stay, be it for better or for worse.
