Public Libraries Give Out Free Wifi

By Ariel Barbera, Assistant Editor-in-Chief

Since the Chromebooks have come into Susquehannock High School, all of the public libraries around the area are giving out free WiFi.

Students are now welcome to do projects and study in local libraries such as the Arthur Hufnagel Library in Glen Rock and the Paul Smith Library in Shrewsbury.

Assistant Librarian Lara McKusky of the Glen Rock library says that the free WiFi can definitely encourage students to come to the libraries in order to work on projects and study for tests.

“The library plans on staying in touch with the school,” said McKusky.  “We also plan to bring students closer.”

The librarians believe that some students may need tech training now that the Chromebooks have come in.  They say it is especially good for students who can’t afford special technology, such as the Chromebooks.

“I believe that the new WiFi and the Chromebooks will help the students with their studies,” said McKusky.  “We also have a tech guru who comes in.  They can definitely help students who are having problems with using their Chromebooks.”

Junior Rachel Sergent agrees that the local libraries can help her with future projects.

“The free WiFi is a good idea,” said Sergent.  “If my WiFi at home doesn’t work, it’s good to know I can go the library.”

Junior Amber Manuel also agrees that the library’s free WiFi is a good addition to the Chromebooks.

“I could definitely use it for studies,” said Manuel.  “I used to go the library for school, so this is going to be really helpful.”
