Girls Volleyball is kicking off its new season with high expectations.

Senior Karah Sweitzer is mostly excited about having a different coach this year.

“Starting the season with a new coach is hard, but I think it is good for the team to get a new start and to get something new,” said Sweitzer.

Darla Pennewill, this year’s coach, previously coached for the Junior High volleyball team. After being offered this current position, she is pleased to be coaching for the high school.

“I am very excited and happy to be coaching the Varsity volleyball team. It is a pleasure to be working with such a fine group,” said Pennewill.

Sweitzer agrees that the team is expected to succeed this season.

“The team will do pretty well. We all work really well together, so we should be able to pull out a lot of wins,” said Sweitzer.

Junior Tyler Williams is not nervous for the season at all. She plans on “playing like a team and winning.”

Pennewill thinks highly of the girls and is planning on having a great season as well.

“The girls on the team are very dedicated. They have a strong work ethic and support one another. They have great knowledge and skill set for the game,” Pennewill said.

The first division competition will be held September 8 at William Penn.
