Several Swimmers Dive into Districts

This year’s swimming team achieved the first district title in school history with senior Evan Mosco and junior Gibson Porter receiving a medal in their respective events.

Mosco swam the 50 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay tea, and the 100 freestyle and medaled in a three. The 200 freestyle team consisted of junior Ryan Gloeckner, senior Patrick Hogan and junior Will Mosco.

Moscow was the first person to receive a medal under his coach Brian Wingert.

“It’s a incredible experience to be the first person to win a medal for Mr. Wingert,” said Mosco.

“Not only did it feel good to win the medal, but we also got a district title under him,” said Mosco.

Mosco was supported by his whole team when he won his medal, and he loved the feeling.

“It was interesting. Teams that are constantly winning gold medals and going to districts won medals, and I hardly heard them,” said Mosco. “But when my name was announced, all I could hear was my whole team going crazy for having a fifth place medal.”

Senior Patrick Hogan, who is a part of the 200 freestyle team, also medaled with his teammates.

“I was shocked that we won a medal. We deserved it after all the hard work we put in,” said Hogan. “I’m very proud with the way the team ended. We swam great, and we fully needed the win.”

Hogan enjoyed his last year on the swimming team and wishes he didn’t have to leave.

“I definitely had an amazing time this year with all my teammates,” said Hogan. “It was a great way to end my senior year with a district title under our belts.”

Porter swam the 100 breaststroke, was on the 400 freestyle relay team and received a medal for both events.

The returning members are expected to pick up what was left behind by the seniors.
