Link Leaders Give Eighth Graders a Warm Welcome

To help prepare the 8th graders for the 2016-2017 school year, the Link Crew leaders gave the junior high students a tour around the high school on Thursday, October 22.

Showing the eighth graders where the core classrooms and elective classrooms are was very beneficial, according to junior Link Leader Danielle Moore.

“The high school is a big building, so I think it was very important to show them where some of their classes may be. Even if they don’t remember everything we showed them, they will still have an idea, and they will be somewhat familiar to the school,” said Moore.

Junior Mackenzie Gibson was pleased about how the tour went.

“The students were very engaged. They asked questions and paid attention as we toured them. Many kids were very respectful too; they kept quiet in the hallways when other classes were going on,” said Gibson.

When the eighth graders join the high school next year, many Link Leaders, including junior Camryn McGowan, think that they will fit into the high school atmosphere just fine.

“They seemed nervous at first because the school is so big. But, eventually they got more familiar with the school and seemed more comfortable. The kids seemed to realize that many classes are grouped together, like math, sciences, and English, which will make it easier when they are finding their classes next year,” said McGowan.

The eighth graders will shortly be joining the high school and will be warmly welcomed by students and staff.
