With beautiful weather to play a beautiful game in, the boys lacrosse team is ready for a challenging season, remaining focused on pushing through adversity in hopes of a strong playoff run.
Senior Grant Johns hopes for many victories this season.

“(The) main focus is just to win games,” Johns said. “Every guy knows the effort that we all put into practice to prepare for games. We all know we can win, it’s just how much we push ourselves.”
Johns also spoke on the biggest challenge he and his team have faced this season.
“We have a lot of good guys that can handle the ball and understand the game,” Johns said. “And while we have some that can come off the bench and do the same, we don’t have as many guys as some other teams.”
Still, the team continues to give their full effort every game. As for the playoffs, Johns admitted the path won’t be easy.
“Chances on making the playoffs are still up in the air,” Johns said. “We have a tough schedule, which is going to make it really hard to make the postseason, but every guy is confident that we can make it happen. A couple goals for playoffs would be making and going far in counties and having a first round home game in districts.”
Johns understands the level of commitment and dedication it will take for not just him but from all his teammates. Junior Ryan Simons recognizes the importance and struggles his position alone faces.
“The hardest part about playing my position is having to make split-second decisions that can decide defending a goal and allowing one, and you have to commit 100% to every decision you make,” Simons said.

Simons also discussed how he approaches one on one matchups.
“I approach 1v1 matchups with a clear and positive mindset that I’m going to win this no matter what and trust my skill sets I’ve been taught along the way,” Simons said.
Simons does see important skill for a defensive player.
“The most important skill for a defender is footwork 100%,” Simons said. “Without footwork, you will never be able to keep up with real talent.”
Senior captain Ben Lippy hopes he can live up to what he believes a great captain does for the team.
“A great captain leads by example, keeps the team motivated, and brings everyone together,” Lippy said.
Lippy continues to strive as a captain and leads his teammates and coaches with respect.
“I stay focused, trust my training, and visualize making plays,” Lippy said. “Music helps too.”
Ultimately, he plays lacrosse because he “ loves the speed, competition, and being part of a team.”
Lacrosse is not just a team game for these players; it’s a platform for growth, friendship and fierce competition.
With a shared focus on leadership, mental strength and teamwork, the team succeeds as much on individual ability as on collective power. Every game is a great opportunity to challenge themselves, push each other to be their best and experience the rush of high intensity action.
Whether on the field or gearing up for the next encounter, the team captures the sport’s passion, camaraderie and excitement.
