The baseball team has begun the season with a strong 5-1 record, showcasing the talent, leadership and teamwork that have been key factors in their success.
With 11 seniors on the roster, including seniors Andrew Unglesbee, Grayson Copenhaver and Brayden Krebs, the team is poised to make another deep run this season. After winning the division last year with a .500 record, they are hungry for more and are motivated to keep improving.

One of the most striking aspects of this year’s team is the leadership of the senior players. Unglesbee has been a standout pitcher for the team.
When asked how he stays calm in high-pressure situations, Unglesbee stays mentally grounded, especially when runners are on base or the game is on the line.
“In high-pressure situations, I tend to take a breather, relax, and focus on the batter,” Unglesbee said. “Every run is important, and I want to prevent as many runs as possible to give my team the best chance to win the game.”
Senior outfielder Copenhaver has also been a critical leader this season. His strong defensive play has helped solidify the outfield as a major strength for the team.
“I feel the outfield defense has been strong this year because of our ability to work together as a team, and the bond we have grown playing together for the past four years,” Copenhaver said.
This deep camaraderie allows the outfield to communicate effectively and cover for each other, which is crucial in intense games.

Second baseman Krebs has embraced his leadership role in mentoring younger teammates.
“I think it is cool to look back at the younger guys because I remember being in their shoes and looking to the upperclassmen to help me, so I try to give advice and encouragement to help the younger guys just as I was helped when I was younger,” Krebs said.
His guidance and encouragement have helped build a strong culture to ensure that leadership continues after the class of 2025.
For Krebs, this final season is about more than just wins and losses. It’s about appreciating the journey.
“I think at times in the past few years I’ve taken for granted how quick high school sports go,” Krebs said. “I will miss the bond that all my friends, and I have had and all the memories we have made being on a team together.”
While high school baseball is coming to an end for these seniors, Krebs is looking forward to the next chapter of baseball.
“I am looking forward to the opportunity to continue to be able to play baseball because I enjoy it,” Krebs said. “Also, the chase to win and be the best with a new team.”
Despite their early success, Krebs knows the importance of keeping the team focused and avoiding complacency. After winning the division championship last season, the team is hungry for more, and Grayson is committed to keeping the team’s momentum going.
“We can make sure the team continues to improve by repeatedly working hard in practice and putting in the extra work outside of practice and games,” Krebs said.
This dedication is why the team continues to get better and better, and it is clear the team is intent on continuing this growth.

Copenhaver also shared how injuries have shaped his approach to the game.
“I try to keep a positive mindset while playing, even though the thought of my injury is always in the back of my head,” Copenhaver said. Copenhaver had to work to overcome a torn shoulder ligament.
This mental toughness has been critical in allowing him to remain a key player despite physical setbacks.
As the season progresses, the seniors are embracing their final games together. Their leadership, hard work and passion for the game has set the tone for a promising season, and they hope to finish strong, making the most of every moment on the field.
The team faces off against Bermudian Springs on the road.
