May 21, 2023

“Five Nights at Freddy’s” is a video game created by Scott Cawthon and developed by Scottgames that was released in August of 2014.

Since its release after eight games with five spin-offs, fans have been showing non-stop support for the series with many hoping for a movie for a long time.

Junior Billy Straw, who has been a fan of ‘FNAF’since the beginning, says that he’s very excited for the film.

“I am excited,” Straw said. “I’ve been waiting for a FNAF movie since I was 10 years old.”

For those who don’t know, Five Nights at Freddy’s is a game about a night shift security guard who takes a week-long gig at a pizzeria, only to find out that the animatronics at this pizzeria are haunted by the spirits of young children who were murdered by the owner of the pizzeria a few years prior.

These are the main antagonists of the first ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ video game.

In 2015, it was announced that Warner Bros. Pictures had acquired the film rights for a Five Nights at Freddy’s film with Gil Kenan attached to direct and co-write the film.

2 years later in 2017, Cawthon tweeted a photo from the set with the Blumhouse Productions logo in the background, seemingly confirming that the film had switched hands.

However, in November of 2018, Cawthon scrapped his entire script as he was not satisfied with the story, despite having approval from Blumhouse Productions founder, Jason Blum.

After some time with no news on the state of the film, Blum stated in a 2020 interview with Fandom that, “It’s moving forward rapidly. I don’t want to put a timeline on it, but soon we’ll get a movie…”

It was later announced that Chris Columbus was no longer set to direct the film, but the film was still moving forward with Blumhouse Productions.

After a few more delays from script issues, filming began in February of this year and wrapped in April. Now the movie has a release date of October 27, 2023.
