York County is home to many beautiful trails that offer a variety of experiences, from scenic views to challenging hikes. Here are five trails you should check out in York County.
Heritage Rail Trail County Park
This 21-mile trail is perfect for walking, running and biking. The trail is mostly flat and offers beautiful views of the countryside. The trail runs north from the Mason Dixon line just south of the Borough of New Freedom through Glen Rock, Hanover Junction and Seven Valleys, through the Howard Tunnel to the Colonial Courthouse in the City of York.
Rocky Ridge County Park
This park offers a variety of trails for hikers and mountain bikers with difficulty levels ranging from easy to challenging. The trails offer views of the park’s lake and surrounding woods. This is a very popular area for hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking, so you will likely encounter other people too.
Nixon County Park
With difficulty levels ranging from easy to moderate, Nixon Park is home to various trails. The trails offer beautiful views of the park’s meadows, woods and streams. Sadly, you are going have to keep your dogs home as they are not allowed on this trail.
Codorus State Park
This trail includes beautiful views of the park’s lake, wooded areas and hills, alongside sporting easy to difficult trails for both hikers and mountain bikers.
La-ho
This 1.7-mile loop trail near Glenville, Pennsylvania is considered an easy route. La-ho is a good area for fishing, hiking and snowshoeing, takes about 35 to 40 minutes on average to complete and is open all year round.
