NFL Draft Makes History

May 16, 2023

The time all football fans love and wait for has come and gone with multiple record breaking events.

Over 54 million people tuned in to watch the 3-day event to see who will join their favorite NFL team and who they hope will lead them all the way to victory.

The NFL draft is the biggest event in football besides the Super Bowl, and this year, some history was made.

For the first time ever, three black quarterbacks were taken within the first 10 picks.

Bryce Young was drafted first to the Carolina Panthers  followed by- the best quarterback in the draft- CJ Stroud, who was picked by the Houston Texans, and two picks later, Anthony Richardson was drafted to the Indianapolis Colts .

This is a big deal and a new step forward for the NFL and future black quarterbacks.

Another huge mark for the NFL was the amount of quarterbacks taken. A whopping 12 quarterbacks were taken in this draft, and it is the most ever.

Yet another record that was broken was having four consecutive wide receivers selected back-to-back.

Now, the crazy aspect of this draft was that no team really had a bad draft. No teams  had a worse grade than a C-.

People will have their own opinions, but there are a lot of experts who grade the draft and not very many gave the teams bad grades.

The Eagles had one of the best drafts overall.

The Eagles picked up Jalen Carter out of Georgia, who fans agree is an amazing player and is a great fit as the team’s tackle position.

After picking Carter, they drafted Nolan Smith, another great player who is also out of Georgia. He was highly rated as one of the better edges in the draft.

Later in the fourth round, Philadelphia chose yet another Georgia player, Kelee Ringo.

Ringo is an impressive player, and in the fourth round, isn’t a bad pick up for the team due to his high ratings early on in both his career and the draft.

The Eagles have drafted four Georgia players in the first round the past 2 years.

They also went and traded for Lions RB D’andre Swift, which is crazy because Swift also went to Georgia when he was in college, making it clear that this team loves that college and who they produce.

But now that the draft is over, the only thing NFL fans can do now is wait until the next year and see what kind of a moves teams will make this offseason to improve and build their teams.
