Molin, Committee Confirm Prom

February 8, 2021

Principal Kevin Molin confirmed this year’s outdoor prom on Jan. 27, giving hope to the senior class.

In hopes that all goes well with COVID-19, the Post Prom Party Committee came together and decided that, to give the senior class a feeling of normalcy during their last year, they were going to try an outdoor prom.

At the moment, the proposed date for prom is Friday, May 21, and the rain date is the following day.

The Robert Lau Memorial Field is the destination, and the time would be from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

According to Karen DeLuca, prom committee adviser, hosting the prom outdoors and limiting it to seniors only will ensure that the event is well below the current 50 percent maximum outdoor capacity limits currently mandated by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

The SYCSD Buildings and Ground Department will furnish hand washing stations for use during the event to promote healthy habits and mitigation efforts.

Meals will be pre-ordered and food vendors will furnish single-serving food portions and meals that are individually wrapped.

Social distancing measures will be utilized throughout the entirety of the event, including in the dancing area.

In relation to COVID restrictions, masks will be required to be worn at all times except when students are eating.
