Varsity Wrestling takes on the NightHawks

Sophomore Tristan Coleman attempts a move in his exhibition match wrestling. COVID protocols have led to several rule changes this year. “Some rules have changed such as the staling rule,” said Coleman. Another new rule this year includes the PIAA mask mandate.

Another rule change for this year means wrestlers and referees are no longer allowed to touch hands when a winner is declared at the end of the match.

Junior Blake Romjue tried to hold the top position in his bout against the Nighthawks. “There’s not as many matches this year,” said Romjue. One of the changes this season due to the pandemic is a shorter regular season schedule.

Freshman Jack VanTassel takes top position against his opponent in first period of their 126 lb. bout. This is Vantassel’s first year wrestling on the varsity team. “It isn’t bad…it’s a lot harder but it isn’t too bad,” said Vantassel.
