Educational Trips during the school year

Parents and Guardians,

NEW FOR 2020

Due to our current hybrid and full virtual learning options, we will only be utilizing Trip and Tour Days toward in-person absence dates. If your child will be working virtually while on the educational trip, you do not need to submit the dates they normally work virtually for approval.

If your child will not be able to access the internet, or you do not plan for your child to complete virtual work while on vacation, then please submit all dates for approval.

If you are traveling to a state that is currently listed on Pennsylvania’s recommended 14-day self-quarantine list, which can be found at https://www.health.pa.gov/topics/disease/coronavirus/Pages/Travelers.aspx, we ask that you consider quarantining your child for 14 days upon their return. Please notify your child’s school principal, if you do so, and they will assist in notifying teachers that your child will be working virtually. These days will be considered excused.

Things to remember:

• Students are allowed 5 (FIVE) school days per year for an educational trip
• The Educational Trip and Tour form should be submitted 10 days before the trip for approval by the building principal
• Forms are available on line at the SMS web site, under the Student tab, pull down menu to Student Forms and Information (https://pa02203627.schoolwires.net/Page/64) OR at the main office.
