SMS Holds Geography Bee

January 3, 2020

Congratulations to the students who participated in the Southern Middle School Geography Bee. All middle school students participated in the preliminary round to see who qualified. Following the qualifying test, the top seven students advanced in the school’s competition where they answered questions about world geography. The top eight students who competed in the final rounds were Chase Eckert, Nevin Good, Jacob Delozier, Lachlan Gemmill Edwards, Evan Glanz, Andrew Hetzer, Theodore Hill, and Samuel Ness.

The top two students proceeded to the championship round, where they answered questions to determine the school’s champion. Seventh grader, Lachlan Gemmill Edwards, and eighth grader, Chase Eckert, advanced to this year’s championship round of competition.  Lachlan Gemmill Edwards took first place during the final round. Lachlan Gemmill Edwards will take a qualifier test in January to see if he qualifies for the PA State competition. Thousands of schools are competing in this year’s contest from all across the United States and the five U.S. territories. Up to 100 of the top test scorers in each state become eligible to compete in their State GeoBee.
