SMS PTSO

July 31, 2018

Hello,

Welcome Seventh and Eighth graders to the 2018-2019 school year!  I hope everyone had a great summer.  I am excited to be a part of the PTSO and look forward to new events and opportunities to meet the students and parents.

My name is Stacy Guess and I have the pleasure of being the President of the PTSO for the 2018-2019 school year.  Additional volunteers for the PTSO include Secretary Jenny Smith and Treasurer Robin Ewell. We also have Dr. Reppert, a teacher rep, a student rep, and a hospitality chair.

Many parents ask their children each day, “How was school?” If your child is anything like mine, it can be a struggle to get a response other than “fine”! One of the best ways to find out what is going on at school is to attend a PTSO meeting. There are five meetings a year listed on the middle school calendar. The first meeting will be held Wednesday, September 12th at 6:30 PM in the library classroom.

SMS PTSO works diligently to support Dr. Reppert, the staff, and the students.  We hold fundraising events throughout the year and have ongoing events such as Giant A+ rewards, spirit wear, and spirit nights.  The PTSO is working this year to hold more events that bring families together in the school environment.  One event we are very excited to present this year is a Lip-Sync Battle!  More information will come later in the year.

All proceeds from events and fundraising provide field trip sponsorships, scholarships for seniors, and special club projects throughout SMS.

With help from parent donations, we are able to provide two dinners and a luncheon to show staff appreciation throughout the year.

Please feel free to reach any of us through Dr. Reppert or on the SMS Facebook page for any questions, suggestions, or to see how YOU can help!

I hope you have a great year,

Stacy Guess

President, PTSO
