Susky kicked off the 2017 football season with a victory against Northern High School on Friday, September 1.

Head coach Steve Wiles was pleased with his team.

“They’ve approached the games with focus. Practices have been good, so I like the way they prepare,” said Wiles, “Their mental attitude has been excellent, and it shows in our performance.”

The special teams greatly contributed to the overall success of the game, as there were plays resulting in turnovers that gave Susky an advantage.

Many teams are weak in one area or position, but Wiles believes that Susky is on the right track.

“Right now I don’t think we have a glaring weakness. We seem very balanced across the board. So as long as we stay healthy, I really don’t see a whole lot of weakness on our team,” said Wiles.

Last season, the team lost a few close games in the fourth quarter, but as shown on Friday night, they were able to stay strong throughout the whole game.

The final score was Susquehannock 31 – Northern 14.

GameTimePA will live-stream the Warriors’ game against York Catholic’s Fighting Irish on Friday, September 8.

Warriors vs Fighting Irish won a vote on GameTimePA’s website against other schools in the area in order to have a spot as Game of the Week.

Both teams are coming off a win.
