Keeping up with the latest trends is great. Eat the trend. Be the trend. However, there are some trends that should die off in 2017.

Rainbow Foods

Yes, bright colored foods are definitely eye-catching and make for great Instagram pictures, but this trend has been dragging on for quite some time now. The first rainbow craze that took over social media started with the creation of the rainbow bagel, at The Bagel Store in Brooklyn, NY in 2016. Since then, rainbow drinks, grilled cheese, and any dessert you can think of can be found. Of course, L.A. and NYC are the first to take over this trend, as they are the major food capitals of the country. Restaurants have been tackling this trend by incorporating “rainbow” and “unicorn” into the names of their products to interest their customers. However, it is one year later, and Starbucks recently came out with their newest limited edition drink, the Unicorn Frappuccino. While it tastes relatively good, this trend does not deserve all of the crazes it is still receiving. It is time for the foodies to come up with a new trend.

Harambe

Everyone knows the gorilla, Harambe. He has been on the news, all over Twitter and has been created into many memes. It was sad that he was put down as a result of dragging a 3-year-old boy within the zoo; however, it is old news. There were protests that dragged on longer than a week after Harambe was dead. I completely understand feeling that his death was unjust, but he was killed last May. People still crack Harambe jokes quite often. The timing just is not right anymore. Harambe will always be remembered, but he does not need to be continually brought up during conversations.

Fur nails

Although this is a beauty trend that allows one to express his or herself, this trend should start and end in 2017. With fur being attached to your nails, it makes it impossible to scratch

anything. According to Cosmopolitan, nails with the fur can get itchy. Scratching them can rip the fur right off…ouch. Also, in my opinion, having extra hair can make one look unhygienic. When eating, food can get stuck in the hair. It’s like a beard on your fingers. Fur nails are a trend that was only meant to be kept on the runway.

100 layers of…

2016 was the year people starting adding 100 layers of things to their skin, and I’m not sure why. From foundation, highlighter, lipstick to nail polish, people have been applying 100 coats of these products on themselves. For the makeup, this causes major pore blockage, which can create mega acne. Also, the more makeup put on, the cake-ier it looks. And for nail polish, the bed of your nail looks like it grew an inch tall. If not using many

bright colors, it can look like a fungus build up. 100 layers will get heavy and can be damaging.
