Fans Say Goodbye to Wolverine in ‘Logan’
March 21, 2017
Saying goodbye to Wolverine was the hardest part of watching the new hit movie Logan, but the farewell was adequately satisfying and a suitable last movie for Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
In the movie, Logan, formerly known as Wolverine, is slowly losing his healing ability and is taking care of a sickly Charles Xavier, who is suffering from Alzheimer’s. The movie is set in 2029 and the other characters from the past X-Men films are dead. Logan is trying to make it by, but a young, new mutant introduced proves to be a new obstacle for the falling hero.
A young mutant named Laura Kinney is introduced early in the movie and has similar powers to Wolverine. She has retractable claws like him, except instead of three claws she only has two. In the comics, Laura is a popular X-Men character known as X-23, and many fans of the comics have been looking forward to her arrival on the big screen.
Throughout the movie Logan, Laura and Charles set out on a perilous journey to find Eden, a place mentioned in the X-Men comics where mutants can hide out in peace. Laura is being hunted down by the same agency that helped create her and is trying to find this place so she can hide out in safety.
The movie is one of the best out of the X-Men saga that 20th Century FOX has created. It has great effects, fantastic writing and amazing acting. By the end of the film, the characters are tugging at the audience’s heart strings.
Despite the success the film is bringing in, the biggest flaw found in the film revolved around the matter of the timeline and what really happened to the rest of the X-Men.
The movie is set in the near future, and the X-Men are all dead again after being revived in X-Men: Days of Future Past. In X-Men: Apocalypse, the audience is introduced to a new crew of actors set portraying the younger versions of the X-Men characters, such as Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm and others, and now they are all deceased again. Logan has many fans speculating whether the producers are going to reboot the series or if they’re going to continue with X-23’s new story line along with her fellow child mutants that Logan helped save by the end of the film.
Overall, the movie has been a success at the box office and has received raving scores on Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb.
Logan continues to bring in top box office scores and is competing against Kong: Skull Island and Beauty and the Beast.
