Reminiscing on Winter Music
January 18, 2017
The choir, orchestra and jazz band put on their annual winter concert for all of their friends and family on December 18.
The students have been rehearsing since October to prepare for this performance and always enjoy the music that is chosen for the concert.
Senior Addie Achterberg is involved in choir, orchestra and jazz band, so she knows just how much they have all been working to put on a great performance.
“We’ve been practicing during class for a couple months,” said Achterberg. “Jazz band always practices outside of school, so it’s also a time commitment for the students to prepare.”
Although they work hard, the students also have fun while doing it. Getting to rehearse winter music and performing close to the holidays is a fun time for the students involved.
Junior Michaela Elsen enjoys getting into the holiday spirit with her music friends.
“It’s a really good way for us all to kick off break,” said Elsen. “We get to play all of this festive music, and it’s really fun.”
The winter concert is often a favorite not only for the performers, but also for those that attend it.
Senior Jessica McDonald enjoys attending this concert the most because of the variety of music.
“It’s cool to watch all three ensembles performing at the same time,” said McDonald. “You get to see the differences between them and hear all different kinds of music that are all celebrating the winter season.”
All three ensembles are already working diligently towards their spring performances.
