Warrior field hockey proved all of the naysayers wrong this year by winning the division title and making it to counties.

  For the division win, the girls had to play against all of the Division II schools twice and then all of the Division I schools once to establish their league record.

  Tracey Kerr, the field hockey coach, is very proud of her girls for stepping up to the plate, gaining confidence and being driven throughout the season.

  “When I looked at our division, I knew we had a shot at it…that being their goal and achieving the goal was wonderful,” said Kerr.

Senior Carsen Bateman, a captain, believes their success was attributed to the friendships the girls share as well as good sportsmanship.

  “Our team is really super close, and everyone gets along…every single girl can get along with every other girl…A combination of the leadership and the unity we have on the team is definitely a big contender in helping us get to how far we got this year,” said Bateman.

  In addition to playing at districts, their win allowed them to continue on to counties.

  They were not only representing their team, but all of Division II as well.

  The girls lost to Dallastown in the finals, but finished with an honorable second place title.

  Sophomore Maggie Howells was disappointed in the loss, as were the other players.

  “It made us feel as if the season was over,” said Howells, “It was kind of upsetting, but we still thought that we had a chance at districts.”

  The team had an overall record of 11-9  and were undefeated 8-0 in Division II.
