Fall Into a New Season
September 14, 2016
It is time to bid farewell to summer and welcome fall’s top fads.
Foods
Pumpkin Spice, as we already know, is the most powerful flavor combination when it comes to fall foods. Dominating
the food industry, pumpkin spice foods can range from ice cream to cereal to desserts to candy. However, the most popular and looked forward to pumpkin spice item to date is the Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks, costing between $4.25-$4.75. Whipped cream, nutmeg, and pumpkin pie spice blended into a warm indulgence truly give fall it’s warm feel- food wise.
Besides pumpkin spice drinks, hot chocolate, hot tea and coffee are great for any cold day. Warm drinks provide comfort and a sense of coziness. The aromatic smells of warm drinks are calming and can be nostalgic to some. Hot beverages are an invitation to sit down and enjoy yourself.
Soups are receiving more and more attention as the health craze continues. With squash being a universal fall flavor, butternut squash soup is enjoyed by many with its warm, subtle flavors of nutmeg. Vegetable soups are making their way to the top as well, using ingredients such as grains, carrots, zucchini, and tomatoes. On a cold, autumn day, such soups can be enjoyed from Panera in Shrewsbury and Jason’s Deli in Timonium.
Fashion
Stores rapidly stock their shelves with over-sized sweaters, scarves, boots and flannels, as these are the most desired clothing items during the fall season. One’s style can be expressed throughout their outfits and color schemes. Boots can be paired with skirts, dresses, sweaters, pants and jackets. Sweaters can be worn as something cute or laid-back. Scarves can be styled for looks or for warmth. Fall offers fashion and clothes that can be worn in a variety of different ways. The hottest fall colors for 2016 are earth tones and neutrals. Olive green, maroon, black and white can be
worn interchangeably for both men and women.
Activities
With fall ranging from September to December, countless activities can be enjoyed by all. Apple picking and pumpkin picking are family friendly activities. The apples can be used for baking pies and the pumpkins for carving. With carving pumpkins comes Halloween. Haunted houses and hayrides are offered that provide people with the beloved Halloween scare. Field of Screams in Pennsylvania costing between $16-$18 and Lineboro Haunted Hayride in Maryland, costing $5, are local haunted activities that are inexpensive and entertaining. Watching horror movies can be done at any point throughout the year. However, with Halloween near, it adds for twice the scare and helps people get into the festive spirit. Away from the scarier note, NFL Football has kicked off. Check out the 2016-17 NFL Schedule to plan for tailgating and game day celebrations.
