Students Sing in L.A.
March 24, 2016
This year Susquehannock sent six students to Los Angeles, California from March 9 thru 12 to perform in the national choir conference. These students are: junior Kelsey McCullough, sophomore Hannah Munch, sophomore Micaela Bryan, junior Samuel Noel, sophomore Julia Twaddle and freshman Julia Kelbaugh.
McCullough loved the entire trip, but she especially enjoyed how crazy and busy the trip was.
“So we got there, and we got settled, and then we have these music checks which basically is making sure everyone knows their music and making sure everyone is solid on their parts, and our conductor is Dr. Kristina Caswell-MacMullen, and she is really energetic and just overall amazing. We practiced for most of the day for the first two days that we were there, and on the last day we had our big performance that went really well. We also got to tour around L.A. My favorite part of this was getting to see Hollywood because of how famous it is,” said McCullough.
Twaddle feels similarly about the trip and is very proud of all the hard work that she put in to be selected to be in the national choir.
“The trip was amazing, and we all worked really hard to get there and to have our final performance be a success, so it was really cool to see that all of our efforts paid off in the end,” said Twaddle.
Noel was less interested in the novelty of being in Los Angeles and more interested in the work that was put into the performance.
“I loved being in L.A., but, honestly, the best part for me was being around all of the people from all over the country with amazing voices and getting to sing with them and learn from them,” said Noel.
The national choir is an esteemed singing group, and Susky is proud to have students that got accepted into their program.
