The Battle Between Ice Cream Shops

We all definitely scream for ice cream during Rita’s and Bonkey’s opening seasons, but are you screaming for Rita’s or for Bonkey’s?
A few students weighed in on their favorite:
“I prefer Bonkey’s! I hate Rita’s. Bonkey’s has real ice cream and good flavors. My entire family feels the same,” said junior Zach Beam.
“It depends on my mood. I like both. I really like the soft serve at Rita’s and the variety at Bonkey’s,” said sophomore Abbie McCarthy.
“Bonkey’s has a better variety, and the employees are so friendly. There’s so many options for ice cream and snoballs. Rita’s is good, but there’s not as much to choose from,” said sophomore Sydney Smith.“I like Bonkey’s. I like the flavors, and I work there. The workers always smile and have positive energy,” said sophomore Miranda Shaffer. “I think I prefer Bonkey’s because they have more flavors to choose from. I don’t know if Rita’s has milkshakes, but Bonkey’s does, and I really enjoy their milkshakes,” said junior Peyton Reider. “Overall, I think I like Bonkey’s better because it has better ice cream and has my favorite flavor of ice cream ever, Grasshopper. And, I like Bonkey’s ice cream better than I like Rita’s ice and custard,” said junior Casey Kummer.

“I would prefer Bonkey’s because I really, really like their milkshakes. I get the exact same thing every time I go, which is a Cookies & Cream milkshake with malt,” said junior Rachel Stockslager.“Rita’s is my favorite. I really like the gelatos with the custard on top. They’re my favorite, and I can’t pass them up,” said sophomore Lucas Sherman.
“Definitely Bonkeys, because that is my childhood. I live right down the street, so I can physically walk there. The employees are so great also. They are very friendly and give me extra sprinkles,” said junior Bree Jones.
“My good friends Maggie and Erin Kaliszak both work at Bonkey’s, and I really like ice cream. However, my good friends also work at Rita’s. I like Bonkey’s more,” said sophomore Kaleb Fair.
“I love Bonkey’s. They have more flavors than RIta’s, and they’re all original flavors,” said senior Karah Sweitzer.
