September 16, 2015
The sweet and spice filled aroma of pumpkin flavor desserts fill the air as the Fall food season approaches. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin rolls and Starbucks’ pumpkin spiced latte are what Fall is truly about.
Junior Gabby Maiorano has her own favorite Fall desserts,
“ Caramel apples and pumpkin pie are my favorite Fall desserts…,” said Maiorano.
Foods teacher Martha Sandusky also has her own favorite fall treats,
“I usually make pumpkin cookies, and in the Fall I make apple pies and a zucchini bread with lemon and poppyseed,” said Sandusky.
This fall, the must try desserts are: pumpkin spiced latte, pumpkin pie, apple tarts, pumpkin cheesecake and pumpkin or apple doughnuts.
Pumpkin spiced lattes from Starbucks have everyone going crazy for Fall. This drink is the perfect combination of pumpkin, cinnamon and nutmeg spices.
You can also try making this sweet drink at your own home with the ingredients list below, all mixed together:
2 tablespoons canned pumpkin
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, plus more to garnish
Freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract
2 cups whole milk
1 to 2 shots espresso
1/4 cup heavy cream, whipped until firm peaks form
While surrounded by all of these desserts there are healthier options, the top 5 superfoods to eat for fall are: raw apples, pumpkin, squash, sweet potatoes and tangerines. These five foods can be made into delicious foods that are good for you as well.
