The Prom Royals Have Been Crowned
May 20, 2015
The night of May 9 was arguably the most important night of a teenager’s life: high school prom. Included in the festivities were: dancing, dinner and a photo booth. Towards the end of the night, prom royalty was announced to an excited audience.
On the prom prince ballot were juniors Josh Stoneberg, Matthew Barnhart, Connor Hood, and Jake Smith. For the princess vote there were: Madison Staub, Rachel Banchiere, Kayla Bennett and Jenna Bradford. As for the seniors, the choices for king were narrowed down to: Tyler Ritz, Ethan Paules and Andrew Hoopes, and the queen nominations were: Alexis Anelli, Brandi Bradford and Abigail Bentz.
In the end, the juniors decided to vote Matthew Barnhart and Rachel Banchiere for their prince and princess, and the seniors gave the crown to Andrew Hoopes and Brandi Bradford as their prom king and queen.
Junior Laura Savin thought the prom royals most definitely earned their crowns.
“I was happy with who won,” said Savin. “I thought they were all nice people who deserve to win it.”
Prom queen court finalist senior Alexis Anelli did not let her loss to Brandi Bradford ruin her night.
“I’m not disappointed at all,” said Anelli. “I wasn’t expecting to win, and it was truly an honor for me to just make the final ballot.”
Anelli was overjoyed by her fellow classmates pick for prom king and queen and very proud of the seniors for not sticking to stereotypes.
“I’m so happy for them [prom royalty winners],” said Anelli. “It was very well deserved. I’m also proud of our grade for choosing two people that may not be the jocks or the class officers, but they represent our grade well and are both well loved.”
Prom King Andrew Hoopes was overjoyed when he was crowned.
“I couldn’t believe it,” said Hoopes. “I couldn’t even believe I got nominated.”
An emotional night for Susky ended in triumph with the crowning of four deserving and well-loved students.
