Daniel Caesar’s ‘NEVER ENOUGH’ Meets Expectations

April 28, 2023

Daniel Caesar’s newest album in four years, “NEVER ENOUGH,” features 15 tracks that sound very much on point for Caesar’s previous work.

The album starts with a mellow song titled “Ocho Rios,” which is a town in Jamaica, highlighting Caesar’s Jamaican descent.

For the next 11 minutes of the album, fans get to enjoy soft beats, synths, and acoustic guitar  traditional to Caesar’s style of producing.

Track number five, titled “Do You Like Me?” serves as a real highlight, continuing the theme of the ups and downs of love, wondering if a love interest is really into him. This track features amazing production and even better vocals.

Track six, titled “Always,” is a love song that is dedicated to someone who left. It is a favorite among fans who have also reviewed this album; it stands out as a highlight in Caesar’s discography. After nearly 4 years off, Caesar came back with a fantastic sound.

Many other standouts in the album include, “Cool,” “Disillusioned” with a feature from artist Serpentwithfeet, “Shot My Baby” and “Unstoppable.”

The last track of the album, track 15, titled “Unstoppable,” is another song that is sure to impress listeners. In an interview with Genius, Caesar said, “This is my favorite, or most proud track I’ve made…  We went out in Jamaica. Freestyle in the rain. It was amazing.”

The rest of the project features head-bop-inducing beats with a standout vocal performance heard throughout the entire album.

“NEVER ENOUGH’ features echoes of previous albums with that sweet sound that fans of Caesar will recognize right away.

Overall, the album carries heavy themes of ups and downs of heartbreak, love and the passage of time.

The project has many positives; it is hard to identify any negatives that would truly hinder Caesar’s abilities.

Overall,  I give the album a 4/5 feathers for the uniqueness; it gives listeners that classic sound that they will recognize instantly, while also still giving a new sound.
